Watch for Dips!

I love love love dips!  What better reason to make a dip than football, esp. Super Bowl Sunday.  If your going to a party or just rooting for your fave team at home, these dips are sure to be a hit.  What I've put together has come a long way from the old stand by's like, chips and salsa, onion  & spinach dip,  Not that I am knocking these one bit, I love all of them.... I've even have dip dinners, where I make 2-3 dips, either my fave's or maybe something new I've been wanting to try and my hubby and I will have movie day or spend the day watching all the games we can find snacking away.  And sometimes what we have to dip is almost as exciting as what we are dipping in.  (Mmmm, nothing like picking up that fresh loaf of pumpernickel the morning I make my spinach dip or yummy baked pita chips for hummus)  It's also a great theme to have for a party since most everyone has a fave of their own.

To go with a dip themed party make sure all your guest aren't bringing the same thing. Try to get a third of your guests to bring more appetizer type dips, then a third to do more heartier dips, then the rest sweet or desert dips...if you can't think of any....well, lucky you, cause I have compiled a a nice lil group in each section.  Invited guests should know approximately how much dip to bring to the party. As a host, you should have an assortment of things to dip such as, bread cubes, pretzels, tortilla chips, crackers, a variety of cut up veggies, pita and pretzel chips and hard bread sticks to name a few.  Most grocery stores have a nice assortment of gourmet crackers and bread sticks to try as well that won't break the bank!  Fruit, pretzels, marshmallows, cookies, graham crackers and cut up pieces of pound-cake, as well as carrot sticks can work for the desserts. Toothpicks, spreaders, cocktail plates and napkins in your team colors will complete your table.

And, as always, please email us your ideas, attempts, or suggestions at double00h@verizon.net.  Enjoy!!!

Color block polsh

Hi Double 00h followers!!  On a recent trip to Walgreens (which I swear is evil) I came across some great sales (and and even greater sales associate with coupons) in the nail polish section.... I got Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect in "Air"  ($4.99) & Kiss Nail Art Paint 3 pack (black, white & silver) with stencils ($4.99 on sale +coupon)!  I also got even BETTER deals on polish and art polish (polish with long skinny brushes for decorating) at Five Below.  Name brand stuff too like Sally Hansen Insta-Dri and Xtreme Wear for $2.00 each (I was so shocked they: a) had cool colors & b) had any left in the display).  Needless to say I picked up 4 of those in fun spring colors and 3 bottles of Color Club - Nail Art Lacquor for $5.00 for all 3.

I know this will make the 3rd post about polish, but lately I have been really having fun with my new purchases. Especially after Goober's post with the pic of color blocking, I decided to give it a try.  Well, lemme be honest.  I actually wanted to do a reverse french (where you paint the bottom of the nail instead of the line across top like a traditional french...it's the 1st pic in Goo's post...anyway, after a botched attempt at that I had decided to try the color block instead.

For this post, it was my intention to color block so the results came out way better.  I won't pretend that my lines are perfect or that I didn't get polish on my skin .......cause I did, as you may notice in the pics. :)  If you try this you probably will too, but when you shower it will come right off after your skin is nice and soft (pay attention to it and help it along a little if needed).  Not gonna shower before you need to go out and don't have a polish correction pen around?  Just make sure nail are COMPLETELY dry, I'm talking an hour or a couple coats of polish dry...then rinse under warm water gently rubbing the polish off with your nails....I wouldn't recommend a nail brush, it's too hard, but maybe an old tooth brush if you have one.  I am also trying the color blocking cause it's the easiest to do with my left hand (since I'm a righty).

For this paint job I let my Mr. pick the colors and he went with Essie, I apologize, this bottle is missing the label and cannot find the color on their site, but it's a ridiculously bright neon pink, and the Kiss Nail Art Paint in black & silver.
Neon Pink, Silver & Black

First I started with the pink.

Next the silver, I'd go with whatever direction feel most comfortable for you.  You may even just want to go strait across, whatever your mood, outfit or occasion calls for.

Then the black, I found the point where the sliver met the side and went up toward the opposite end to cover the entire top of the nail, making the triangle pattern.

not perfect, but once cleaned up....

Ta-Da!

Finally top with a fave top coat and Viola! Fun nails that will def grab attention! And hey, if your too timid to try this or aren't having a whole lot of success, call your sister or bff and have fun coming up with creative color combos and patterns, neutral and muted block patterning is really in right now!  Remember that mistakes are going to happen, we aren't manicurists (however if you are please come do our nails lol)    Please send us your pics at double00h@verizon.net if you decide to try it out..we'd love to see your creations and we'd love to display them in a future post!!

Have Fun!

*Note: Went out the day after I did this and 3 random people told me how cool my nails were and then when my friend mentioned that I did them myself (and I did my other hand too) I got looks of admiration....lol!  And that's good for anyone's ego!

Santa Fe

Goober here!

So me and Stoof are uber slackers. I apologize. I also suck at taking pictures of the things I do. My little, her boyfriend and mine (they're roomies) are trying to cook more and be healthier. Aka I cook everyone dinner. I actually love it. On Monday night I made a delicious meal of spicy tilapia (squirt the fish with lemon, rub on some low fat margarine, coat it in creole and blackening seasoning and then some parm cheese and bake for 20-25 on 350) some dirty rice, salad and cream of asparagus soup from Skinnytaste.com. It came out really well! I have to admit I used an extra half tablespoon of sour cream and butter while making it and it was absolutely delish for the low amount of calories. Try it out!

Tomorrow for Jerzday, we are making family dinner again. Last week I made my moms meat sauce recipe (I took a few pics and I will be making a post soon). Gotta love being Italian. This Thursday we're deviating from the pasta and making tacos because that just obviously makes sense. We're going to do pulled chicken and ground turkey meat. I can't wait. I really hope they turn out as good as the tacos from here. I will rave about Santa Fe Mexican grill allll day long. I live above it so I am a very frequent customer. They have the hands down best margaritas in Newark. And thanks to my mama I got to try the one in Wilmington via Groupon. They are just great restaurants if you love Mexican food like I do. So if you are ever in Delaware definitely check it out. I'm really really wishing they delivered and would be so kind as to bring me a golden chimichanga right now. mmm can't wait for taco night!

have a great day! Adios!

ps. check out my friend's blog the style tab  she's an awesome fashionista and puts together the cutest outfits! She recently featured me and some of my sistas in a post about how to wear your greek letters a little differently for any sorority ladies out there. Get inspired!
